SUMMARY:Kannon Dance 2 (Youth Ensemble) - “VOICES” (2.	State Russian Drama Theatre)
DESCRIPTION:From: St. Petersburg\, Russia\nDirector and Choreographer: Valeria Kasparova \nGenre: Contemporary dance\nDuration: 35 min \nKannon Dance Company (Youth Ensemble) and Valeria Kasparova (choreographer\, teacher and head of the youth team) have been working hand in hand for almost two years. The uniqueness of the “VOICES” production lies in the fact that behind each dance phrase there are different ethnic Armenian dances\, which are more than 2000 years old. For several weeks\, the dancers and choreographer studied this material\, passed it through themselves and created something completely new\, inspired by the ancient movements. The music used in this piece is also written by the outstanding Armenian composer and musician of our time Tigran Hamasyan. That is\, in General\, this production can be safely called a step in the Armenian contemporary folk dance. Voices\, sounds\, music…. Are they coming from inside or outside? Do they sound in unison or separately? Loud or quiet? Determined or doubtful? Do they quarrel with each other or create harmony? It all depends on what you want to hear… \nLocation on map: 2. SUMMARY:Novosibirsk State Drama Theatre “The Old House” - “Green Pastures” (4. YSITC Student Theatre)
DESCRIPTION:From: Novosibirsk\, Russia\nDirected by Yuliya Aug \nGenre: Science fiction short stories\, drama \nDuration: 75 min \nStary Dom Novosibirsk Drama Theatre was founded in 1933. The main idea of the theatre was to promote the world art among the people of Novosibirsk. In its repertory classical texts are neighboring with ultra-modern ones. The theatre experiments not only with the literary material\, but also with the way of actors’ existence\, with the traditions of psychological and conditional theatre. Stary Dom is a nominee of many Russian and international theatre festivals. \n”Green Pastures” is a joint project of Stary Dom Theatre (Novosibirsk) and International Summer Festival of Arts “The Access Point” (St. Petersburg). For the basis of the performance director Yuliya Aug took the stories «Green Pastures» and “The Parasite” from a collection of fascinating stories about changing reality. In this reality\, the awakened gene threatens to mold either an angel or a demon out of a human pupa\, and it is not yet known what will happen to the human consciousness when it becomes possible to digitize it into another being. \nLocation on map: 4. SUMMARY:Bridgman / Packer - “Under The Skin” and “Remembering What Never Happened” (7. Young Spectator Theatre)
DESCRIPTION:From: New York\, USA\nArtistic directors: Art Bridgman and Myrna Packer \nGenre: Contemporary Dance & Technology\nDuration: 75 min \nArt Bridgman and Myrna Packer\, are Artistic Directors of Bridgman|Packer Dance and collaborators in choreography and performance. They are acclaimed for their innovating integration of choreography and video technology that explodes the partnering form into a magically populated stage where image and reality collide. They have received international critical praise for seamlessly melding these two art forms. They are Guggenheim Fellows and in received a 2017 New York Dance and Performance Award for Outstanding Production (The Bessies). Bridgman|Packer Dance has toured extensively throughout the USA\, Central America\, Europe\, Asia\, and The Middle East. \nAfter intermission\, Remembering What Never Happened explores the relationship between memory and imagination. Each time we have a memory\, the brain recreates it\, often differently than the last time it was recalled. Two people who remember the same event might remember it differently. In this dance work\, each time memories are referenced through movement\, text\, or video technology\, they transform\, become more fictional\, move further away from the initial telling\, and reveal events that may or may not have happened. Bridgman and Packer interact with video projections of their images that morph into digital re-interpretations of the human body\, while scenes shot on location in the Mojave Desert transform into surreal landscapes. The work rides the line between the constant and the shifting\, the tangible and the subconscious\, while exploring the plasticity of memory and experience. \nLocation on map: 7. SUMMARY:Compagnie Irene K - “Murmures” (12. Northern ave.)
DESCRIPTION:From: Eupen\, Belgium\nDirector and Choreographer: Irene Kalbusch \nGenre: Open Air\nDuration: 15 min \nCompagnie Irene K. is a contemporary dance company founded in 1978 in Eupen (Belgium) by its art director Irene Kalbusch. Choreographies don’t want to be narrative. The spaces open in all directions\, always creating new constellations. The Company has adopted an own style that can be attributed to contemporary dance theatre close to the “Tanztheater”. More than performances on stage – including for children\, the Company offers performances in urban/ alternative landscapes. Compagnie Irene K. regularly develops educational\, creative and interdisciplinary projects. \n“Murmures” is a whisper\, a muttered conversation between four dancers. Individual\, singular\, they manage to meet around a common language. Sometimes gathered in a collective force\, sometimes isolated in a soothing introspection. \nLocation on map: 12. SUMMARY:The Kickpäck - “Two for Joy” (12. Northern ave.)
DESCRIPTION:From: Berlin / Germany and Zagreb / Croatia\nDirector: Ina Gercke\nChoreographer: Laura Vogel \nGenre: Physical theatre\, Contemporary circus\nDuration: 30 min \nThe company the kickpäck\, founded in the summer of 2016\, stands for highly physical theatre\, for theatre\, which tells a lot with simple means – with minimal stage and maximum bodywork. Christian Peter\, clown\, musician\, tight rope walker and the co-founder of Triko Cirkus Teatar Zagreb and Franziska Pack\, acrobat\, theatre teacher and performer of the company “das vogelpack” (Berlin)\, are combining acrobatic and dance elements with guitar\, trumpet\, loop machine and well-dosed text to stories and situations in which the invisible moments become visible and in which movements turn into sounds. \nThe kickpäck wants to celebrate – because those who celebrate together\, will not fight each other so easily.\nAnd the ingredients of a party are so simple: drinks\, music\, decoration – and the people! The audience becomes part of the celebration and witnesses how the duo deals with the to-do list of party preparation. When stacking beer crates and hanging pennants\, the stage design and sound carpet builds up. \nLocation on map: 12. Northern ave. \n[put_wpgm id=1]

SUMMARY:Novokuznetsk Drama Theatre - “One day in the life of Ivan Denisovich” (5.	National Academic Theatre / Black Box)
DESCRIPTION:From: Novokuznetsk\, Russia\nDirector: Eduard Shakhov\nChoreographer: Daniil Nagaitsev \nGenre: Drama\nDuration: 60 min \nJust as it was 85 years ago\, the Novokuznetsk Drama Theatre /1933/ today is not only an acting space\, but also a “cultural factory” for the big industrial city. Through modern performances\, educational projects\, workshops\, and festivals\, Novokuznetsk’s drama exists in a modern Russian theatrical context\, constantly reminding of itself\, fostering an appreciation of art\, and developing along with the audience.\n“One day has passed\, one day without a shadow over\, almost a happy one. And there were three thousand six hundred and fifty-two such days in Ivan’s sentence”. \nThe play “One Day in The Life of Ivan Denisovich”\, based on the novel by Alexander Solzhenitsin\, shows us one day (one of many) in the life of a Soviet prisoner. This one day contains all the hell of the Soviet repressive system which dehumanized convicts as well as their guards.\nIn the ascetic scenography\, through the plasticity\, contrasting sounds of clinking iron spoons\, plates\, and glasses\, the creators and the actors tell the audience the story about the fight to save humanity. \nLocation on map: 5.
