Heidi Latsky Dance (HLD), founded in 2001, is New York’s largest physically integrated contemporary dance a company whose mission is to rethink beauty through presentation and discourse. Since 2006, HLD has created more than 10 works in which people of different ages, physique, disability, gender, sexuality participate, and races. In 2009, Dance Magazine called HLD’s first evening work “GIMP” – “an important milestone in modern dance ”, and the news about the work was nominated for an Emmy Award.
ON DISPLAY, HLD’s current portfolio, commissioned in 2015 by NYC Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities, has been disrupting spaces and creating unexpected beauty across sectors and continents at diverse venues like the Whitney Museum, Lincoln Center, Cooper Hewitt, National Portrait Gallery, and the High Line; events like Wheeling Forward Benefit, NYC Design Week, and Perry Farrell’s Kind Heaven Orchestra Tour; and as an annual, global social justice initiative ON DISPLAY GLOBAL (ODG) on December 3 rd for International Day of Persons with Disabilities at the UN, NYU Tisch, and in 60 + cities worldwide. To date, 19 countries are participating in ODG, including Indonesia, Peru, South Korea, Israel, Australia, Chile, and Italy.
