Ryazan Regional Drama Theater was awarded the “Badge of Honour” is one of the oldest theaters in Russia, was founded in 1787. In XVIII century, known under the name of the “Opera House” and supported by the famous poet Gabriel Derzhavin. Since that time the theater has played an outstanding role in regional and all-russian cultural lives.
Faust is a tragic character tortured by inner conflicts and confrontation between religious and scientific issues. Giving regard to a tragic scope of Goethe’s story, the production by Dmitriy Akrish presents a contemporary person daily tempted by the modern world. Temptations, doubts and anguish from satiety that is the image of modern Mephistopheles that can be reflected in any stranger. The performance is focused on personal inner conflict, not on infernal exterior by Mephistopheles.
